Spiritual Development

Whether you are Catholic, part of another faith tradition, or are uncertain about your faith, Campus Ministry is here to journey with you. Throughout the year there are a variety of spiritual development opportunities for students to participate in. From small groups to Bible studies to speakers and anything in between, Campus Ministry seeks to foster a vibrant community of faith at the College of St. Scholastica, and we hope that you will join us!

Below are several of the on-going Spiritual Development opportunities including:
CORE Groups
Faith in a Flash
Benedictine Friends
Spirit Seekers

Women's Discernment Group

CORE Groups

CORE Groups are small faith sharing groups of about 5-10 people that meet once a week for 6 weeks. New topics are chosen each semester. CORE Groups are facilitated by members of the Peer Ministry Team. Stop by Campus Ministry to sign up for a group during the first few weeks of each semester.

Faith in a Flash

Faith in a Flash is a dinner and faith-based discussion session that comes with a one hour guarantee. Faith in a Flash is offered periodically with a new topic each time. Past topics have included: "Sport's Team =God's Team ?" (What does being on a sports team teach us about being a disciple?) and "What is Eco-Spirituality? Watch the Campus Ministry newsletter and the calendar for future opportunities.

Benedictine Friends

Get to know the women who started The College of St. Scholastica! Opportunities will be offered for social, spiritual and educational events with the sisters throughout the year. Students who want to get involved should sign up early in the fall. Stop by Campus Ministry for more information.

Spirit Seekers

Are you wondering where God is leading your life? Are you interested in sharing your spiritual journey with a small group? Spirit Seekers (group spiritual companioning) involves a dynamic process of listening, sharing, and responding to others in a small group setting. Groups are formed in the fall and are made up of two to four female students and two facilitators--one Sister and one faculty/staff member. Spirit Seekers groups meet monthly to share, listen, and respond to God's voice through the sharing of daily experiences--and share a meal or refreshments together! Spirit Seekers is open to sophomore, junior, and senior women. Contact Sister Mary Rochefort or Lezlie Oachs for more information.

Women's Discernment Group

An opportunity to discuss permanent life choices that give meaning and joy to life. Questions explored include:
-How can I have a deeper relationship with God?
-How can prayer fit into my busy life?
-Am I wondering what God wants me to do in my life?
-If I find myself attracted to religious life, how can I get information on the wide-world of religious communities within the Catholic Church?
The group meets on Sunday evenings from 7:30-8:30 about twice a month. It is facilitated by Sisters Martha Bechtold and Lisa Maurer from St. Scholastica Monastery.
