VITA (Volunteers Involved Through Action) is a Campus Ministry and Center for Just Living student organization, which seeks to engage students in service and social justice activities so as to encourage personal and spiritual growth and inspire students to continue to puruse social justice.
A goal of VITA is to make it easy for students to volunteer. Whether you choose to volunteer at one of the Core sites, participate in a once-a-month opportunities, attend a social justice educational event, or just get connected to service and social justice projects through VITA, we are glad to help in whatever way we can! Transportation is provided for all VITA activities. More information, click here to go to the VITA page.
Take advantage of an opportunity to expand your horizons and serve others in a new place with a great group of people. Look for more information on the Alternative Spring Break page and get involved!
Service learning trips offered through Campus Ministry and the Center for Just Living give students the opportunity to participate in direct service, learn about social justice, experience a different culture, and travel.

Service is one of the Benedictine values at the heart of an education at The College of St. Scholastica. Community Service Orientation is an excellent introduction to that spirit of service. Great good comes from helping others. Community Service Orientation is the perfect opportunity to serve the local community, learn about various social issues, build community, develop new friends, and also HAVE FUN! Participants move in the week before classes start and spend time getting to know each other and the community through service and social justice activities.
Past volunteer sites have included:
Loaves and Fishes Catholic Worker House
Hartley Nature Center
Boys and Girls Club of Duluth
Benedictine Health Center
Union Gospel Mission

There are a wide variety of programs and opportunities available for students to volunteer after graduation. Click here for more information.
In an effort to provide assistance to CSS students in need, Volunteers Involved Through Action (VITA) sponsors a CSS Student Food Shelf. While sponsored by VITA, the CSS Student Food Shelf is supported by the entire College of St. Scholastica community through donations of food, time, and money. Donation bins are available in several locations in Tower Hall, the Science Center, and some Residence Halls. For more information on how you can access the CSS Student Food Shelf click here.
