SAL Colloquium: Ryan Vine Friday, April 9 3:40-4:40pm Tower Hall 4119 Admission is free and open to the public. Refreshments provided. Shiv: A New Collection of Poems by Ryan Vine Shiv was a finalist for the May Swenson Poetry Award from Utah State University Press. Ryan Vine's chapbook, Distant Engines, received a 2005 Weldon Kees Award from Backwaters Press. By September 2006, Distant Engines made its way onto The Poetry Foundation's list of contemporary best sellers. Ryan's poems have appeared in many literary journals and magazines, and have twice been read by Garrison Keillor on The Writer's Almanac. He has recent work in The Cortland Review and The American Poetry Review, and his criticism appears regularly in the Star Tribune. He is assistant professor of English at The College of St. Scholastica and the Associate Director of the College's Honors Program.  This poetry reading is part of the School of Arts and Letters Colloquium. This monthly lecture series provides visibility to the diverse research projects performed by SAL faculty at CSS.

Emeritus College Connecting lifelong learning with friends in your community, where curiosity never ages! Enrollment is open to all curious learners, and no formal degrees are required. Emeritus College is a program of continuing education for lifelong learners. Join us for enrichment seminars with stimulating instructors and energetic participants without the stress of tests and assignments. Most Emeritus College courses meet for 90 minutes, once a week for six weeks at The College of St. Scholastica and at convenient community locations throughout the region. Alworth Peace and Justice Lecture Series The 2009-2010 Alworth Peace & Justice Lecture Series will focus on the systemic and moral foundations of our economic and financial system. Some argue that - despite the current global financial crisis - the free enterprise system as we know it still represents the best hope for growth, prosperity and social justice. Others are calling for reform and a reexamination of how we manage resources, development and economic justice. Click here for additional information.
