    June 2008 Alum of Month

    Jeff Phillipich
    New Haven, CT

    Class of 2003
    HUM

Tell us about the work you do: I work for JPMorgan Chase Bank as a bank manager/vice president in Bridgeport, CT. I manage the day-to-day operations for the $200M + branch as well as the seven employees who work at this location. The main part of my job is establishing and maintaining relationships in the community and educating them about our banking system and the many ways we can help businesses and consumers grow their financial goals.

A source of pride in your life: My wife, Nicole Pagliaccetti Phillipich, is a Ph.D. student at Yale University in New Haven, CT. She is studying microbiology and virology.

Best St. Scholastica memories: Steve Ostovich's philosophy classes, ICE class with Lezlie Oachs, playing with my band "Lucky Strikes Out" in the Subway, choir concerts with Bill Bastian, the Study Center in Ireland Program, Campus Ministry retreats and, without a doubt, living in Pine 302.

Significant influences: All my great classmates and professors at St. Scholastica who taught me to always live in the moment. Greatest professional moment: Being acknowledged as a top personal banker (top 10 percent) at the 2005 sales conference in Chicago when I was with Wells Fargo Bank.

Something interesting about your life: Being the crazed Green Bay Packer fan that I am, my father and I make the pilgrimage to the football holy land at least once a year. Come rain or snow, cold or heat…we are there with more than 70,000 of the greatest fans on the planet. And yes, I cried when Brett called it quits.

Family ties: My mother-in-law, Mary Ann (Lenari) Pagliaccetti '77; Aunt Luann Phillipich '82; and Aunt Margaret (Jakel) Siskar '68.

Philosophy: Life's battles don't always go to the stronger or faster man. But sooner or later the man who wins,is the man who thinks he can. - Vince Lombardi

Impact of the Benedictine values: The values that impact my life the most are love of learning and respect. In a world like ours today, it's so important to respect not only ourselves but also all of the diversity around us. The love of learning has helped me be able to grow and move in my professional life. Everything changes, and my love of learning has helped me become a more knowledgeable manager and a better friend to all those in my life.
