Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loans
A Federal Direct Stafford loan is a low-interest, fixed rate loan made to students. Generally, every student who files a FAFSA is eligible to borrow a Federal Direct Stafford loan.
Step #1: Complete your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Step #2: Accept your Federal Direct loan on the OneStop tab in Cor
For incoming students, you must be registered for an orientation session before you can sign into Cor. For Transfer students, you must have completed the online Admissions tutorial before you can sign into Cor.

Step #3: Complete Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling
If you are a first time borrower of federal loans at St. Scholastica, you will be required to complete the online Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling. Click on the green Sign In box to get started. You will need your FAFSA pin.
Step #4: Complete Electronic Master Promissory Note
All new borrowers at The College of St. Scholastica will need to complete a master promissory note (MPN). Click on the green Sign In box to get started. You will need your FAFSA pin. Once you have completed the Direct Loan eMPN this year, you should not need to complete it again.
Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan
The Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loan is available to graduate/professional students. This loan (7.9%) is similar to the Parent PLUS loan for undergraduate students, except it is available to the graduate student, not their parents and can be consolidated with other federal loans at repayment. A credit check will be performed on this loan. There is a loan origination fee associated with this loan; you may increase your Graduate PLUS loan amount by $305.

Private Loan Options
Private loans are available through banks, credit unions, and the Office of Higher Education, and are available with the student as borrower. Most of these loans require the student to have a credit worthy cosigner and have variable interest rates.
