About St. Scholastica

More than just a degree

The College of St. Scholastica was founded in 1912 by a group of pioneering Benedictine Sisters. Since then, St. Scholastica has grown to more than 4,000 students and has graduated more than 14,000 alumni, but we still hold true to the Catholic Benedictine values we were founded upon: the values of community, stewardship, hospitality, love of learning and respect.

St. Scholastica is Community

When you enroll at St. Scholastica, you're joining something larger than yourself. You're becoming a member of a thriving, caring community of learners, dedicated to each other and to improving the world around us.

Of course, we also value the larger community and we work hard to give back. Twice a year groups of volunteers from St. Scholastica head out into the communities we're located in an pitch in where we're needed most: soup kitchens, public schools, parks, anywhere we can lend a hand. This is because we believe that strong communities are an asset to all of their members.

For online students, this community is forged through interactive tools including Cor, our student portal, and Blackboard 9.1, our online learning environment.

St. Scholastica is Stewardship

Stewardship, the careful and responsible management of resources, is important to us. That means we conserve natural resources by composting, recycling, and reducing waste in our food service operations. We also work hard to conserve your resources by providing students the best educational value in all of our programs.

St. Scholastica is Hospitality

We believe that everyone deserves a bit of kindness and that everyone should have a hand when they need it. That's why every student enrolled in online classes at St. Scholastica has an online advisor. Your online advisor can help with registration, Prior Learning Assessments (PLA), graduation requirements and make sure that you never feel lost in a bureaucracy.

St. Scholastica is Respect

Respect is a fundamental requirement for a productive learning environment. We respect the knowledge you bring to St. Scholastica and allow you to earn credit for classes that you've already mastered through Prior Learning Assessments (PLA). This also means treating all people with dignity and reverence without regard to age, gender, race, minority, sexual preference or economic status.
