Participating in the Honors Program
Students wishing to participate in The College of St. Scholastica Honors Program must meet two of the following criteria:
- top 15 percent of high school class
- ACT score of 26 or SAT score of 1100
- GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale
All applicants for the Honors Program will be interviewed by the Honors Director prior to admission.
Any student wishing to participate in the Honors Program who does not meet two of the three criteria above may still apply to the Honors Program by contacting the Honors Director. The Director may allow the student to participate in the Honors Program based on a successful interview.
Traditional students are required to complete 20 hours of Honors courses (e.g., five 4-credit courses), at least two courses at the upper division level (3000 or 4000 level). One of these courses may be an Honors thesis. With the permission of the Honors Director, transfer students may graduate from the Honors Program by completing 12 hours of Honors courses, at least two courses at the upper division level. The Honors Colloquium is strongly recommended for new first-year students.
Continuing in the Honors Program
Students who fall below the minimum grade point average required for graduation with honors may continue to enroll in Honors courses in the hope that the GPA will improve.
