 NEWS FLASH!      June  2008

The College of St. Scholastica will offer both BA (Bachelor of Arts) and BS (Bachelor of Science) degrees in Chemistry and Psychology beginning Fall 2008.

The BA format provides students  the basic foundations of each discipline and the flexibility needed for study abroad, earning a second major or a minor, and exploring a wider range of the liberal arts.

The BS format provides a more detailed study of topics within the major field, opportunity for research experiences, yet remains grounded in the liberal arts education which characterizes graduates of St. Scholastica. The BS format is especially suited for students seeking entry-level employment or advanced degrees in their discipline.

Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees in Chemistry and Psychology will be awarded for the first time in May 2009.

The faculty in the School of Sciences have designed programs to help students:

  • understand  natural, created, and human systems;
  • become better stewards of natural and human resources; and
  • acquire the knowledge and skills needed to serve humanity.

The departments within the School of Sciences are Biology, Chemistry and Physical Science, Mathematics, and Psychology and Sociology. The School offers nine bachelor's degrees, five minors, and an excellent pre-professional program in medicine and related fields. The School also offers extensive coursework to support the College's health science programs.

No matter their major, students in the School of Sciences learn to synthesize knowledge from many disciplines. They benefit from St. Scholastica's strong liberal arts foundation and longstanding reputation for excellence in the sciences. School of Sciences professors emphasize one-on-one attention and advisement. Many faculty members serve as mentors in student-faculty research projects. Students are regularly admitted to nationally competitive undergraduate research internships and prestigious graduate and professional programs.

Undergraduate Programs offered by the School of Sciences include:
Biochemistry (major only)
