Success and Barriers in the Working World
Presenter: CSS Alum and former MENTUR Project Participant - Firestar Charette RN

Firestar is a graduate of the School of Nursing at The College of St. Scholastica in 2007. She will discuss transitions from school to career including highlights and struggles as a new graduate. She will address how CSS prepared her for the NCLEX exam and her career. Additionally, Firestar will address cultural interactions and how they influenced her in her career. At the end of the workshop, we will have a few minutes for question and answers.

Come and observe a master drum maker creating a large frame drum in the Ojibwe tradition.

MENTUR Project Bridge Program for Newly Accepted Nursing Majors
The program will focus on mathematical skills, writing skills, and a basic science review, as well as issues related to time management, study skills, use of technology, etc. The bridge program will also provide opportunities for students to network with each other, tour clinical settings, and meet nursing role models from disadvantaged backgrounds.
