Minnesota Immigrant Communities
The following resources highlight specific immigrant communities in Minnesota and some of the community-based resources serving the community. Most of the organizations listed are those visited by the Social Work with Immigrant Communities classes.
Latino and Chicano Community
Latino in Minnesota is a project of The Minneapolis Foundation that provides information on Latino immigration in Minnesota (2008).
Centro is an organization working with Latino and Chicano families for a better future (2008).
Latino Economic Development Center is an organization working to transform the community by creating economic opportunity for Latinos (2008).
Southeast Asian Community
Southeast Asia Immigration is a project of The Minneapolis Foundation that provides information on immigration from Southeast Asia to Minnesota, focusing on Hmong (2008).
Hmong Cultural Center works to promote the personal development of children, youth and adults through cultural education while providing resources that enhance cross-cultural awareness between Hmong and non-Hmong (2008).
Southeast Asian Services is a program of the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation working with refugees on mental health issues (2008).
East Africa Community
African Immigration is a project of The Minneapolis Foundation that provides information on immigration from Africa, focusing on Somalis (2008).
African Community Services works with new Americans from Africa to become productive and well-adjusted citizens (2008).
