Overview

Students may earn a four-year Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work and be eligible for Minnesota State Social Work licensure while attending The College of St. Scholastica Work Program at the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community college campus in Cloquet, MN.

St. Scholastica social work graduates are also eligible for advanced standing in most graduate social work programs nationwide, meaning that program graduates can complete a Master of Social Work degree (M.S.W.) in as little as one additional school year.

Students accepted into this undergraduate program will be St. Scholastica students who enroll in upper-division courses taught by St. Scholastica faculty.

Depending on the number of college transfer credits, students may complete the program ona full-time basis in three or four semesters. Student may enroll in either fall or spring semesters on a full- or part-time basis. Some courses are sequenced and require fall enrollment.

Admissions Criteria

Admissions priority will be given to stduent applicants as follows:

First priority: Students who have completed both an A.A. and A.A.S. degree in Human Services through FDLTCC.

Second priority: Student who have completed an A.A. degree through FDLTCC.

Third priority: Students who lack no more than 8 credits to complete their A.A. or A.A.S. degree through FDLTCC.

Fourth priority: Student who have completed a minimum of an A.A. or A.A.S. at another institution.

Delivery Format and Program Schema

Social work courses are delivered especially for nontraditional, rural students who may be employed or are commuting a significant distance. Each course is uniquely delivered to enhance the student learning experience. Depending on the semester and course, lecture courses are offered either one weekday per week and/or Saturdays, with opportunity for small-size "experimental labs," online through WebCT course instruction, or through Friday evening/Saturday "community classroom immersion" learning.
