Jake Eiler's Life as a Medical School Student

January 2006
My name is Jake Eiler and I have since graduated from CSS and will soon be entering medical school. I can honestly tell you that St. Scholastica was the best experience of my life and it prepared me well to continue my education and be successful in pursuing my professional degree.
To tell you about myself I will give you some background information and let you know the process that I went through. Originally I am from Morris, MN, which is a small farming community in southwest Minnesota. I came to the College of St. Scholastica after visiting and feeling very comfortable with the personal atmosphere at CSS. While at Scholastica, I participated in numerous activities to stay active in our community. I played varsity baseball and was an All-American and Academic All-American during my four years. I also was the first group of students to be peer mentors as part of the Dignitas program which is designed for incoming freshman. I was a peer advisor to help incoming students learn about CSS and help them schedule classes. I also worked with the admissions department, alumni relations, and athletics department besides other community volunteer opportunities.
Currently I am taking the year off school and am working at Miller Dwan Medical Center in Duluth. I decided to take the year off to make sure that medical school is the path that I wanted to take and prepare for my MCATs for medical school admission. After studying diligently last summer, I performed well on the MCATs and have been in the application process since. I am currently accepted and enrolled to attend Creighton University Medical School in the Fall of 2006, and still waiting to hear back from a few other schools. The application process for any professional program is very extensive.
