Healthcare Informatics and Information ManagementThe College of St. Scholastica was the first college in the nation to grant a bachelor's degree in this professional field. Our program has been accredited for over 50 years and is considered one of the premier programs in the nation. Graduates are qualified to take the national registration examination to earn professional recognition as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA). A major in Health Information Management provides students with professional knowledge necessary to assume management responsibility for health records and health information systems in a variety of health related settings, including hospitals, clinics, long term care settings, consulting firms, government agencies, insurance companies and software vendors. It is ideal for the person who likes the health care environment but does not want direct patient contact.

Traditional Program The major in Health Information Management is housed in the Department of Healthcare Informatics and Information Management. This Bachelor of Arts degree provides students with professional knowledge necessary to assume management responsibility for health records and health information systems in a variety of health related settings, including hospitals, clinics, long-term care settings, consulting firms, government agencies, insurance companies and software vendors. | Undergraduate Distance Learning Program St. Scholastica offers a distance learning program for students who wish to obtain a bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, with minimal time on campus. | Graduate Program Health care professionals interested in pursuing a Master of Arts degree in HIM can do so in our on-line graduate program, with minimal time on campus.
