Tommy Boone, PhD, MPH, MA, FASEP, EPC

  • Author of the book "Professional Development of Exercise Physiology" with The Edwin Mellen Press, Ltd (2001).
  • Co-founder of the American Society of Exercise Physiologists (ASEP); the professional organization of exercise physiologists.
  • Member of the Board of Directors of the American Society of Exercise Physiologists.
  • Chair, ASEP Board of Certification; the Board that oversees the "Exercise Physiologist Certified (EPC) exam.
  • One of 67 Board Certified Exercise Physiologists in the United States.
  • Chair, ASEP Board of Accreditation; the Board that governs the accreditation of colleges and universities that seek undergraduate accreditation of the exercise physiology programs.
  • Founder of the electronic journal entitled "Journal of Exercise Physiology-online" - a research journal for exercise physiologists.
  • Founder of the electronic journal entitled "Professionalization of Exercise Physiology-online" - the only such journal like it in the world to discuss the professionalization of exercise physiology.
  • Publishes 15 to 20 professional papers and 2 to 4 research papers per year.

  • Served as host and developer of an exchange program for German students and faculty from the college of Leipzig.
  • Served as "liaison" between St. Scholastica and the Temple Israel (in the explanation of service and Judaism to CSS faculty and students).

John Dargan, MA, EPC

  • Published Master's thesis entitled "Warm-up and Physiological Responses"; 2000.
  • Received Board Certification (EPC) by American Society of Exercise Physiologists (ASEP); 2002.
  • Presented Research Paper at ASEP's 6th Annual National Meeting entitled "Evaluation of Fitness Characteristics of Collegiate Soccer Players Before and After a Pre-Season Strength and Conditioning Program"; 2004.
  • Student mentor for McNair Research Program; 2005.
  • Presents talks regarding Exercise Physiology, Fitness and Health regularly to elementary, middle and high school students.
  • Stays physically active by kayaking on Lake Superior and in-line skating in the summer and cross-country skiing in the winter.
