Julie Ahasay

Julie Ahasay
Julie Ahasay has a MA in Communicating Arts from the University of Wisconsin - Superior and has experience teaching people of all ages-- from preschoolers in the Head Start program to senior learners in St. Scholastica's Emeritus College program.

After working for more than 20 years in advertising and public relations (including 13 years as the Public Relations Director for St. Scholastica), Julie began teaching both those subjects. Naturally, she serves as the Advertising and Public Relations internship advisor. She also teaches Intercultural Communication, Human Communication and in the Dignitas program.

Julie is simply fascinated with advertising because it is a blend of persuasion and entertainment that we are exposed to on a daily basis. Keeping up with the advertising industry is a task within itself because, as Julie says, it is always changing as the audience and technology evolve.

Julie is also a theatre professional. She directs, writes, and acts in numerous theatre productions throughout the year. Most recently she was seen in "Barefoot in the Park" at the Duluth Playhouse, "Boston Marriage" at Renegade Comedy Theatre and "Necessary Targets" at the Play Ground theatre.

In her free time, Julie enjoys cross-country skiing in the winter and tending to her garden in the summer. She also loves reading, films, and when she can, traveling.
