Mathematics Student

Excellent preparation for your career

The mathematics major at St. Scholastica provides students with a mathematical background that can be applied in a wide range of careers or in further graduate studies. The program offers students the flexibility to pursue second majors in other fields, which often leads to great success finding jobs.

The major entails 42 credits of applied and theoretical mathematics coursework. From sophomore level onward, students learn in very small classes, providing them with a great deal of interaction with faculty members. Students will also develop good bonds with their classmates by working collaboratively to learn how to reason mathematically.

Program Outcomes

Specifically, graduates of the program will be proficient in:

  • Mathematical reasoning
  • Analyzing patterns
  • Communicating abstract ideas
  • Using mathematical tools to analyze real world problems
