  • Nationally accredited by the Council on Social Work Education
  • Students are awarded a  Bachelors of Arts degree in Social Work
  • With a B.A. in Social Work students are prepared for MN State licensure (L.S.W.)
  • Graduates are eligible for “advanced standing” in most graduate social work programs (shortens graduate study by approximately 12 months)
  • Prepares students for practice in a broad range of public, private and non-profit setting

Program Uniqueness

  • Small class size (average of 8-20), allowing for increased personal attention and student support by faculty
  • Program delivery through a "cohort model" which enables the same group of students to enroll in sequenced social work courses as a group
  • Accepts MN Transfer Curriculum in a seamless plan through community college partnerships
  • Course planning that compliments students with para-professional backgrounds in areas such as human services, chemical dependency, criminal justice, developmental and mental disabilities
  • Opportunity for course electives in areas of child and family welfare, aging, immigration and healthcare
  • Program faculty who work in teaching areas of expertise
  • Strong Benedictine values in social justice and the human condition
  • Students complete at least two professional internships (minimum of 520 hours total) in a professionally delivered field program
  • Strong emphasis is placed on building skills in professional documentation, ethics, and evidence-based practice strategies
  • Course “labs” are delivered during each  Extended Studies 8 week term, allowing for small group skill practice, course content integration, portfolio development, and career exploration
