Dear Agency Field Instructors and Social Work Students:
On behalf of the Department of Social Work, I extend our thanks and appreciation for your service to our students’ learning plan. We are very fortunate to have dedicated social work practitioners like you who are willing to serve the profession by providing educational experiences of exceptional quality. We appreciate your commitment to the profession and to the St. Scholastica Social Work Program.
This manual formalizes the practices and procedures used in our social work field placements. It has been prepared for agency supervisors, students, and the faculty of The College of St. Scholastica Social Work Program.
The purpose of the manual is to clarify and assist, rather than restrict the activities of those people who are involved in student field placements. It represents a way to guarantee quality of performance and service by each of us connected with the preparation of beginning social workers. The policy and procedures outlined in this document foster integration between classroom learning and social work practice in the field. This integration is required by the Council on Social Work Education, the national accrediting organization which has reviewed and granted accredited status to St. Scholastica’s Social Work Program.
