Admission Checklist for the Social Work Program

Thank you for your interest in the Social Work BA program offered by The College of St. Scholastica on our Brainerd campus. Application to this program is a two step process. The first step is to apply for admission to The College of St. Scholastica. The second step is to apply for admission to the Social Work Program. Please follow the checklist below to complete this process.

 

Step 1: Apply for admission to The College of St. Scholastica

 

1. Schedule an on-campus visit. Although this is not mandatory, we highly encourage and welcome all interested students to come and visit the campus of interest.

2. Fill out an Application for Admission and pay the $25.00 application fee. You may request a paper copy by calling the campus you are applying to or fill out an on-line application at https://www2.css.edu/app/adep/index.cfm.

 

3. Request Official Transcripts from all post-secondary schools attended.

 

4. Please request an official transcript from your high school or GED scores if one or more of the following apply:

• You have not attended a post-secondary school or you have taken less than 12 semester credits at an accredited post-secondary institution
• You have taken 3 or more years of high school foreign language (you are exempt from the foreign language requirement at CSS)

5. Submit signed copy of the Technology Requirements form.

 

6. Students must fill out an immunization form before beginning classes. You may request a paper copy of the form by calling the campus that you are applying to or download the form here.

• Please note: The Minnesota college immunization law applies to anyone who was born after 1956. Students who graduated from a Minnesota high school in 1997 or later are exempt from these requirements under the law.

 

7. If you are applying for financial aid, please complete the following:

• FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). You may request a paper copy by calling the campus you are applying to or fill-out an on-line version at www.fafsa.ed.gov. The College of St. Scholastica's school code is 002343.
  
• Fill out the CSS Financial Aid Application for Accelerated Degree Undergraduate Students. You may request a paper copy by calling the campus you are applying or visit the Financial Aid Web site apply on-line form at http://www2.css.edu/app/financialaid/forms/form_list.cfm.
  Please return this form to the campus you are applying to.

 

Application file is reviewed as soon as file is complete.

The College of St. Scholastica is registered as a private institution with the Minnesota Office of Higher Education pursuant to sections 136A.61 to 136A.71. Registration is not an endorsement of the institution. Credits earned at the institution may not transfer to all other institutions.

 

Step 2: Apply for admission to the Social Work Program

1. Complete the application for admission to the social work program.

 

2. Submit a minimum of three completed reference forms. These should include:

• One reference from a faculty member
• One reference from an agency/employment supervisor who has observed your interaction with clients.
• One personal or professional reference.

3. Complete a 3-4 page essay. See instructions.
