Occupational therapists shape their practices using the AOTA Code of Ethics, and the Occupational Therapy Practice Guidelines.

AOTA

The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) is the national professional association established in 1917 to represent the interests and concerns of occupational therapy practitioners and students of occupational therapy and to improve the quality of occupational therapy services. According to its mission statement, the American Occupational Therapy Association advances the quality, availability, use and support of occupational therapy through standard-setting, advocacy, education and research on behalf of its members and the public.

AOTA staff and volunteer leaders help to support the professional community through monitoring, responding to, and influencing health care, education, and community-related systems, and the way that occupational therapy is integrated into the delivery of services within those systems.

Resources and tools are available at American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) to assist occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, and students in providing ethical, occupation-based practice with a focus on client activity, participation, and quality of life in a changing domestic and global environment.

MOTA

The Minnesota Occupational Therapy Association (MOTA)  is the state professional association for occupational therapy practitioners. MOTA's mission is to enhance the professional development of its members, promote the profession of occupational therapy, and advocate for the provision of occupational therapy services across all practice arenas, populations and geographic locations in Minnesota.
