Financial aid
Financial aid information for graduate students
One element that changes as students transition from undergraduate to graduate studies is potential sources of financial aid. Typically there are fewer grants and scholarships leaving students more dependent on loans. The following options exist for paying for your graduate experience:
- Personal money (savings, job, etc.)
- Student Loans
- Scholarships and Grants (check with local, state, and federal agencies)
- Health Systems and Hospitals (Virtually every hospital/health system offers scholarships for students pursuing careers in health professions. Check web sites of entities in your area). Some health systems will also assist in your education in return for a commitment (contract) to work for the system for a designated period of time (usually 2-3 years)
- Athletic Training Scholarships (MATA, GLATA, NATA)-you must already be in a program to be eligible.
Retention and graduation information
Retention
In order to remain in good standing and continue to progress through didactic and clinical coursework, students must do the following:
- Continue to demonstrate evidence of up-to-date health information/prerequisites.
- Maintain a 3.0 GPA.
- Complete exit examinations each semester at 70% level.
- Continue to abide by all program policies and procedures while avoiding disciplinary infractions.
Further information on this may be obtained from the department chairperson and/or program handbook. Students that fail to meet one or more of the aforementioned criteria may be placed on probationary status. A student must resolve outstanding deficiencies and be restored to regular status within one semester. A student may not graduate when on probationary status.
Graduation Requirements
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Complete 50 Practitioner Development Units
- Complete an exit interview with the Dept. Chair
- Successfully pass final exit examination
