I was attracted to athletic training because…
I have had a passion for sports since I was a kid and have been active in athletics my whole life. In high school I sustained an injury to my lower back and I spent a lot of time doing rehabilitation in order to get back to athletics. I went on to play softball in college but eventually gave up competitive athletics due to a shoulder injury. Throughout my athletic career I have worked with so many great people, specifically athletic trainers, who were incredible individuals and amazing role models. I was inspired to help other people in this way by combining my interest in the health field and my love of sports.
I chose St. Scholastica because…
For me, it was mostly a "right place at the right time" situation. I heard about the upcoming Athletic Training program during the fall semester of my senior year at UWS as I was solidifying plans to graduate in the spring and go onto graduate school. St. Scholastica was looking for students for their inaugural class, I met the necessary requirements, and everything fell together pretty quickly. I was very fortunate to have such a great opportunity present itself like this.
I enjoy athletic training clinicals because…
I have been able to interact with many different athletes, students, and athletic trainers who have all impacted my learning experience. I am gaining experience in a practical setting while putting my acquired classroom knowledge and skills to use.
