About the SHS

The School of Health Sciences is made up of six departments: Athletic Training, Exercise Physiology, Health Informatics and Information Management, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Social Work. Together, these departments offer a wide range of bachelor's and master's degrees as well as the doctor of physical therapy degree. Faculty members from all of the areas share a common vision:

The School of Health Sciences will be widely recognized as a premier educator of health science professionals who are known for disciplinary excellence, multidisciplinary respect, cultural competence and thoughtful leadership.

Each profession strives to be at the leading edge of its discipline, to work with and respect the disciplinary knowledge of other health professionals, serve diverse human factors in different work arenas, and apply leadership principles in a values-oriented and needs-based way.

Rondell Berkeland

Dean Rondell Berkeland, an associate professor of Occupational Therapy, joined the College in 2000. His background includes experiences as a practitioner, educator, administrator and consultant. His education is from the University of Minnesota (BS, MPH) and St. Thomas University (EdD).
