A free summer institute for high school teachers to explore computer science

Share the world of computer science with your students! Attend this institute to learn more about infusing computational thinking into math, science and humanities curriculum including learning how to use Scratch, software to create stories, games, music, and art. Participants will:
After completing a curricular unit at the summer institute, participants will be expected to use and test the unit over the 2012-13school year. Results will be shared at a follow-up spring session during the spring of 2013.
Free Lodging. Summer is a wonderful time to visit Duluth. You will stay in our beautiful student apartments which are fully equipped with a kitchen, separate bedrooms, and a common living space. The campus apartments are tucked back in a wooded area close to hiking trails in the Valley of Silence and where you will often find deer roaming. Our beautiful wellness center is also available for your use while you stay with us on campus. Monday and Tuesday evenings are free for you to enjoy and explore the area. Lodging is available Sunday - Tuesday nights.
Free Meals. Meals will be provided for teachers during our institute.
Mileage. Compensation will be provided for those traveling outside of the Duluth-Superior area.
Stipend. A $150 stipend will be given to those completing the workshop and follow-up session in spring 2013.
Graduate Credit. Low cost graduate credit of $125/credit (2 credits) is available for participants.
CEU Option. Continuing Education Units are also available for participants.
