Dan Jones
Dan is originally from Nigoonsiminikaaning First Nation near Fort Frances, Ontario Canada. He came to Minnesota over 20 years ago to attend college at Rainy River Community College in International Falls Mn where Int'l. Falls and Fort Frances are border towns. After receiving his AA degree from RRCC, he was hired as the Services to Indian People Program coordinator. The program became very successful where the Indian Student head count was near 200 students one semester and was considered the highest Indian Student head count in the state of Minnesota. During his employment at RRCC, he completed his BS degree from Bemidji State University during the summers. After 13 years at RRCC, he accepted employment at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College as the American Indian Studies instructor where he currently remains. At present, he is enrolled in the Masters' in Indigenous Studies Program from the Seven Generations Education Institute located in Fort Frances, Ontario.
As well as teaching at FDLTCC, he helps out with the upper lever language classes at the College of Saint Scholastica. He has been with this school for the past two years and is completing his 3rd year of service to the college.
Dan enjoys engaging in all aspects of the Indian Culture. He makes himself available to assist with pipe ceremonies, pow-wows and a host of other ceremonies that require spiritual guidance.
