Mr. Kaldor's teaching includes 21 years of elementary classroom and choral experience. In 1992 he founded what is known today as the Lake Superior Youth Chorus (formerly the Hermantown Youth Chorus), directing choirs and providing oversight from 1992-2000 and continuing to serve as Artistic Director until 2005.
He has been selected guest director/clinician for Minnesota Music Educators Association Elementary Choral Festivals and the Summer Choral Camp at the University of St. Thomas, selected to conduct in American Choral Directors Association master classes for Eric Ericson and Kenneth Jennings, and in 1996 received the Northland Foundation's Terrific Teacher Award.
Mr. Kaldor did his undergraduate work in Choral Education at the University of Minnesota, Duluth, graduating Summa Cum Laude with Departmental Honors, and was the recipient of the National Music Collegiate Award. He received his Master of Arts in Music Education from the University of St. Thomas, studying with Angela Broeker, Robert Abrahamson and Mary Goetze.
Choirs under his direction have performed for Music Educators Association state and regional conventions and have performed on The Morning Show of Minnesota Public Radio. They have performed with the Duluth- Superior Symphony Orchestra, Northland Opera Theater, Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra, Arrowhead Chorale, and StrikePoint Concert Bell Ensemble. In the spring of 1996, Mr. Kaldor directed singers in a performance for then First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Jerry and his wife love the North Shore and enjoy canoeing and fishing in the BWCA. They have three grown sons and a dog named Tasha.
