Why did you choose St. Scholastica?

I chose St. Scholastica because it was far from home but close enough that I could still go home when I wanted. It offered Advertising and Public Relations as a major and that was what I was really interested in. After visiting the school, it felt like the perfect fit. It was like when you find that perfect pair of jeans - it fit and felt so right.

Why did you choose your major?

I chose my major because I am interested in event planning. I felt that having a background in advertising and public relations would be very beneficial for me. I would be able to learn more about the people I would be working with as an employee and the people that I would want to come to the events.

Do you participate in any extracurricular activities; if so, why?

I love being involved with the campus. During my past three years here, I have contributed photos to the Cable (the student news paper), participated in Peer Advising and was one of the interns for the orientation program. I have also given tours of campus and helped with various events through the Admissions Department. I also have been involved with community service orientation and other groups. I have taken several service trips through the Center for Just Living. I try to stay involved to meet new people and to learn more about the campus as well as myself. Through these activities I have met some of my closest friends and also learned things that I would've never learned in the classroom.

What are your best campus experiences? What will you always remember?

My best campus experiences are all the time spent outside of the classroom. The late nights that turn into early morning breakfast runs. Learning about my friends and their lives through our late-night talks about what life will be like someday and all our plans for what we want to do. Spending time with my best friends will be something I will always remember, no matter how much I learned in class. I have learned more from my friends than I will ever learn from reading a book.

How do you have fun in Duluth?

Duluth is great for everyone. I have found some "unique" spots throughout the city to have fun. Enger Tower has the most amazing view to watch the sunrise. Cliff jumping at the Lester Park will give you a thrill every time. Going out with friends bowling and dancing to 90's music while making a fool of yourself is the only way to go. All of those random walks around the city will help you appreciate everything Duluth has to offer. Take an adventure and explore all parts of the city and you are bound to find some fun.

Advice for prospective students?

Explore everything! Try something you would've never tried before. You will learn more about yourself than you ever thought. Take a night off from studying and go out with your friends. You don't just learn by studying and sitting in a classroom. You'd be surprised by all of the random things you learn when hanging out with your friends. Stay involved and meet as many people as you can.
