The College of St. Scholastica Library was created to support the needs of the whole College population - both on and off-campus. This includes supporting the classes offered to students, assisting faculty with their research and curriculum development, and supporting the various information needs of the staff. To accomplish this, the Library offers several different services to assist you with your needs.

Getting Started:
Before you can begin using the Library and its services you must be a registered student, faculty or staff member and:

1. Have a CSS ID

Don't have a CSS ID? Contact your program or department to get one. All students, faculty, and staff must have a CSS ID regardless if you are on or off-campus.

2. Activate your Library barcode (located on the back of your CSS ID).

Activate your Library barcode by filling out the online form, or by contacting the Library. When activating your Library barcode, we will need the following information:
  • The barcode on the back of your CSS ID (14 digits, begins 20116...)
  • Your ID number used for Banner (begins with a B or V)
  • Your full name
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • CSS Email Address

Once your card has been activated you can begin using all Library services including checking out materials and Interlibrary Loaning materials from other libraries.

If your ID works at home but not at work ... If you are successful accessing the databases from your home but not from work, it could be that your workplace has a firewall. Ask your IT people to open port #2048 - #2248.

If they will not, then either.....you will have to work from home or.....Use this interface: https://www.mnlinkgateway.org After you click "Search" you will be asked for your UserID which is your Library barcode, and your Password, which is your last name. We do not publicize this method because not all of our databases are available through it (CINAHL, WilsonWeb, and PsycINFO are not), and its interface is much cruder than that available through our databases.
