The College of St. Scholastica

For Students - Test Taking

If you need to arrange to take a test outside of class, speak to your instructor first. It is your responsibility to make sure the test will be in the Library when you come to take the exam. Determine whether the test is open-book or closed-book, and how long it will last (1 hour? 3 hours?).

For a CLOSED-BOOK EXAM, contact the Library (723-6140) and reserve the "test room" for the desired time.

Available times are generally:
Monday and Tuesday, 8:30 am - 7:00 p.m. [tests must end by 7:00].
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 8:30 am - 4:00 p.m. [tests must end by 4:00].
Saturday and Sunday - No tests administered.

There may be times when tests cannot be given. You must have a reservation. The Library reserves the right to not administer tests to "walk-ins" (students who did not follow the guidelines and make a reservation ahead of time).

For an OPEN-BOOK EXAM, you do not need to reserve the room, but a library staff member (not a student worker) must be available. The hours above are the normal staff times; call ahead to be sure.

It is the student's responsibility to contact their instructor if there is no time available to take an exam by the prescribed date.
