American Psychological Association
This is the premier organization for psychologists. This site has not only organizational information but links to other sources of information. The A.P.A. has and enforces a code of ethical conduct in both research and practice: for example, APA members are not allowed to practice outside of their areas of competence. Unfortunately, much information listed on this site is only cited, not available in full-text. The APA publishes many books and most of the core journals in psychology; many are owned by the CSS Library.
American Psychiatric Association
This is an organization of 40,000 physicians, with much of the same mission as the American Psychological Association (whose 150,000 members generally are Ph.D.s, not M.D.s).
Association of Black Psychologists
"The Association of Black Psychologists is the leader and international resource for addressing the psychological needs of African people in the Diaspora. Our research publications, assessment techniques, and other products establish the association as the recognized authority for providing practical solutions to the day-to-day circumstances of our people."
American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy
"Since our founding in 1942, the AAMFT has been involved with the problems, needs and changing patterns of couples and family relationships. The association leads the way to increasing understanding, research and education in the field of marriage and family therapy, and ensuring that the public's needs are met by trained practitioners."
