Citation Help

Need help citing your sources for your assignments? The Library has set up some LibGuides for APA, MLA, and AMA citation styles for common kinds of sources.

Note: This is not intended to replace either the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association or the AMA Manual of Style. Please consult these works for authoritative information in greater detail. Also feel free to talk with a librarian for more help.

For APA - American Psychological Association used for the social sciences including education, social work, psychology, and the health sciences including nursing. Consult your professor as to which edition to use.

For MLA - Modern Language Association used for the humanities including English.

For AMA - American Medical Association used in the health sciences primarily in the Physical Therapy department.

**If you are unsure which style to use, ask your professor.



How to Get EndNote


EndNote is software that can organize, store, and input citations into Word documents to help you with your research. The College of St. Scholastica has a site license which offers two options for you to access Endnote and you can either pick one or use both as the situation warrants.

1. EndNote Download
Use this version if you answer yes to the following questions:
- Are you comfortable downloading the software on to your personal computer?
- Do you want to be able to use EndNote without being connected to the Internet?
- Do you want to use EndNote for a more in-depth, long term project and store and organize your research?

Note: This software is licensed by The College of St. Scholastica for use by current Faculty, Staff and Students. According to the terms of the EndNote Site License Agreement, the College is obligated to inform those users who download the EndNote software that they are required to discontinue use and uninstall the EndNote software upon termination of the College's site license agreement or upon user change of status such as termination of employment, cessation or matriculation, or separation from the College.

To download EndNote, click on the appropriate computer link below, log in to the Intranet, and click on save. EndNote will then be installed on your computer.

2. EndNote Web
Use this version if you answer yes to the following questions:
- Do you not want to worry about downloading the software onto your computer?
- Do you want to be able to access EndNote via the web from any computer anywhere?
- Are you just wanting something that can help you correctly format your citations for your paper?

To set up an EndNote Web account, you must sign up for an account on the Duluth campus.
