Stefanie Arndt-Sumner, MS, ATC, ATR: Athletic Trainer at UMD

Stefanie Arndt-Sumner Stefanie joined The College of St. Scholastica in August 2012 as a preceptor. She is an Athletic Trainer at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Stefanie completed her Master’s Degree in Sports Management at St. Cloud State University and her Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training at Gustavus Adolphus College.

Maren Barootian, MS, ATR, ATC: Assistant Athletic Trainer at CSS

Maren BarootianMaren joined The College of St. Scholastica in August 2008 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer after serving as an Athletic Training Fellow at UW LaCrosse in 2007-08. She previously completed her MS in Exercise Physiology at the University of Northern Colorado in May 2007. Maren attended UW LaCrosse for her BS in Athletic Training graduating in 2005. She is a certified member of the NATA (National Athletic Trainers Association) and an American Red Cross instructor for CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.

Bre Braun, MA, ATR, ATC: Athletic Trainer at Essentia Health

Bre BraunBre joined the College of St. Scholastica in August 2010 as an Approved Clinical Instructor. She is an Athletic Trainer in Orthopedics at St. Mary’s Duluth Clinic. She completed her BS in Kinesiology-Athletic Training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received her MA in Physical Education – Emphasis Athletic Training/Sports Management at Western Michigan University.

Charla Buxbaum, MS, ATR, ATC: Athletic Trainer at UMD

Charla Buxbaum Charla joined The College of St. Scholastica in September of 2012 as preceptor. She is an Athletic Trainer at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Charla is an alumna of the CSS Entry-Level Master’s Athletic Training program and completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay.

Jenny Dalland, MA, ATR, ATC: Athletic Trainer at Essentia Health

Jenny DallandJenny joined The College of St. Scholastica in September of 2009 as a Preceptor. She is an Athletic Trainer in Orthopedics at Essentia Health. Jenny completed her MA in Exercise Physiology at The College of St. Scholastica and her BS in Athletic Training & Exercise Science at Minnesota State University, Moorhead.

Chris Gebeck, ATR, ATC: Athletic Trainer at Essentia Health Occupational Medicine

Chris GebeckChris joined The College of St. Scholastica in August 2010 as a Preceptor. He is an Athletic Trainer in Employee Health and Rehabilitation Services at St. Mary’s Duluth Clinic and is a former President of the Minnesota Athletic Trainers’ Association. He completed both his BS in Biology and BA in Exercise Science at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

Mike Gogolin, ATR, ATC: Athletic Trainer at Essentia/Superior High School

Mike GogolinMike joined The College of St. Scholastica in August 2009 as a Preceptor. He is an Athletic Trainer at Essentia Health and Superior (WI) Senior High School. He completed his BA in Exercise Physiology/Athletic Training from The College of St. Scholastica.

Terry Hanson, MEd, ATR, ATC: Athletic Trainer at Essentia/Marshall High School

Terry joined The College of St. Scholastica in August 2009 as a Preceptor. He is an Athletic Trainer at Essentia Health and Duluth Marshall High School. He completed his MEd in Education from the University of Minnesota Duluth and his BAA in Physical Education from the University of Minnesota Duluth.

Bret HinnenkampBret joined The College of St. Scholastica in August 2009 as a Preceptor. He is an Athletic Trainer at Essentia Health and Proctor High School. He has an MEd in Education and a BAS in Exercise Science/Athletic Training at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Susan Hoppe, EdD, ATR, ATC: Associate Director of Sports Medicine Services at UMD

Susan HoppeSusan (Suz) joined The College of St. Scholastica in August 2009 as a preceptor. She is an Associate Director of Sports Medicine Services at UMD and works with Men's Ice Hockey. Suz was previously at Gardner Webb in Boiling Springs, NC. She has an MEd from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, GA and a BS in Kinesiology from UW Eau Claire. She is currently working towards her Doctorate degree in Education at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

Kim Moncel, MS, ATR, ATC: Head Athletic Trainer at CSS

Kim MoncelKim officially joined The College of St. Scholastica in July 2008 as Head Athletic Trainer. She had previously served the college since 1997 through a contract with Essentia. Prior to that she served Northwestern (WI) and Superior (WI) high schools through her affiliation with Essentia. Before joining Essentia, Kim was employed by Superior Acceleration and Physical Therapy (1994-96) and Central College in Pella, IA as Head Athletic Trainer/Adjunct Instructor (1993-94). She received her MS in Exercise Science from Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI in 1993 and her BS in Physical Education/Athletic Training from Washburn University in 1991. She has served USA Baseball since 2006 as Athletic Trainer for the Women’s National Team.

Sarah PothostSarah joined The College of St. Scholastica in September of 2009 as a Preceptor. She is an Athletic Trainer at Essential Health and Hermantown High School. Sara completed her BA in Athletic Training at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

Tom Rheaume, MA, ATR, ATC: Assistant Athletic Trainer at CSS

Tom RheaumeTom has been at The College of St. Scholastica since August 2002 and is presently working with Football and Baseball. He also has worked on call for Essentia Health. Tom graduated from CSS with a Master of Arts in Exercise Physiology in 2002 and a Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Physiology in 2001. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and Minnesota Athletic Trainers’ Association.

David Quammen, MSEd, ATR, ATC: Assistant Athletic Trainer at CSS

David QuammenDavid joined The College of St. Scholastica in August 2010 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer after serving as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Virginia Wesleyan College. He completed his MSEd at Old Dominion University. David attended Minnesota State University, Mankato for his Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training. He is a certified member of the NATA (National Athletic Trainers Association) and a certified practitioner of the Graston Technique of soft tissue mobilization.

Pat Riley, MA, ATR, ATC: Athletic Trainer at Essentia/Northwestern High School

Pat RileyPat joined The College of St. Scholastica in August 2009 as a Preceptor. He is an Athletic Trainer at Essentia Health and Northwestern (WI) High School. He completed his BA in Exercise Physiology/Athletic Training at The College of St. Scholastica.

Chelsea Sparrow, ATR, ATC: Athletic Trainer at Essentia Health Occupational Medicine

Chelsea SparrowChelsea joined The College of St. Scholastica in August 2011 as a Preceptor. She is an Athletic Trainer in Employee Health and Rehabilitation Services at Essentia Health. She completed her BS in Athletic Training at Lake Superior State University.

Dustin Tino, MS, ATR, ATC, CSCS: Athletic Trainer at Essentia Health

Dustin TinoDustin joined The College of St. Scholastica in August 2010 as an Approved Clinical Instructor. He is an Athletic Trainer in Orthopedics at St. Mary’s Duluth Clinic. He completed his BS in Exercise Science – Athletic Training at Winona State University.

Mike Wendinger, MA, ATR, ATC, CSCS: Director of Sports Medicine Services at UMD

Mike WendingerMike joined The College of St.Scholastica in August 2009 as an Approved Clinical Instructor. He serves as the Director of Sports Medicine Services and Athletic Trainer for football and tennis at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

In his role as Director for Sports Medicine Services he oversees all athletic training and strength and conditioning services, a role he has held since July 2004. He has taught a variety of courses in the Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Dept. at UMD since 1999 and assisted in getting the athletic training education program accredited. He also served as an intern with the New Orleans Saints.

Mike has an MA in Physical Education with an Athletic Training Concentration from Western Michigan University and a BA in Exercise Science with an Athletic Training Concentration from University of Minnesota Duluth. Mike has memberships with the NATA, GLATA, MATA, and NSCA.

Kristine Wilkie, MS, ATC, AT: Athletic Trainer at UW Superior 

Kriste WilkeKristi Wilke joined The College of St. Scholastica in August 2012 as a preceptor. She is an Athletic Trainer at the University of Wisconsin - Superior. Kristi completed her Master's Degree at the University of Penn California and her Bachelor's Degree at UW-Superior.

Devin Zenner, ATR, ATC: Athletic Trainer at UW Superior 

Devin ZennerDevin joined The College of St. Scholastica in September 2012 as a preceptor. He is an Athletic Trainer at the University of Wisconsin – Superior. Devin completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training at Gustavus Adolphus College.
