Computer Requirements

You will take this course using a computer and web browser. Some students have used computers at worksites or on campus. Here are the minimum computer requirements for distance education on the Internet:
Windows 98 or above
Mac OS X 10.4x or above
Linux/Unix
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 with Service Pack 2 (or above)
Firefox 2 (or above)
Safari 2 (or above)
Java Run Time 1.6.13 - Click here to check if you have Java.
If you do not have version 1.6.13 installed, get it here.
If you have a newer version of Java installed, uninstall your current version, and use the link above to download and install version 1.6.13.
Look for similar requirements as listed above for PC. General recommendations are listed below.

click on the icon i to download, save to desktop
click on the i32 icon on the desktop, select run to install citrix to your laptop
Cerner recommends use of Internet Explorer with the windows operating system

Cerner recommends downloading the Firefox browser for use on Macs rather than the supplied Safari browser (Google Firefox to find)

The College's standard desktop software is MS Office 2007. To ensure compatibility with your faculties software we strongly recommend that you use MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point for your assignments.
Initiating an Account:
The school provides Internet accounts for students to use at hard-wired facilities on campus (the computer lab or in dorms). A letter is sent to every student explaining how to use the account. Separate accounts must be purchased from outside service providers to access the campus computers, Internet, e-mail, etc. from home or any off campus location via modem.
