Internationally known flutist Frank Montano and champion chicken dancer Richard Street will headline the American Indian Art and Music Festival at The College of St. Scholastica on Thursday, May 1. The festival is free and open to the public.

The event begins at 5 p.m. in the Mitchell Auditorium on campus. Performers include Montano and Street; spoken word artist Bobby Wilson; poet Al Hunter, project director for the College’s Ojibwe Language and Culture Education Program; and traditional drumming and dancing by St. Scholastica students.

A feast and Native American giveaway (gift-giving) ceremony will follow at 6:30 p.m. in Somers Lounge, also on campus. Les Gibbs will emcee the event. The menu includes sliced roast turkey, wild rice stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, fruit salad and blueberry crisp.

The festival is presented by The College of St. Scholastica’s Indigenous Student Alliance and Student Senate.
