The College of St. Scholastica concludes its 2007-2008 theater season with “Ah, Wilderness!” by Eugene O’Neill at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, in the St. Scholastica Theatre on campus. Long considered to be O’Neill’s only successful comedy, “Ah, Wilderness!” is a strong departure from the author’s dramatic reality scripts. The play takes place in 1906 on the weekend of the Fourth of July in a quaint Connecticut town. This sweet coming of age script offers a Norman Rockwell type snapshot of small town family values, growing pains and young love. “The chemistry of the cast and their incredible hard work makes me excited for the audience to see this show,” says Scott Smith, the play’s director and instructor in the Communication, Theatre and Art Department at St. Scholastica. “I can’t wait to hear the laughs in the audience and see the smiles on people’s faces as they leave the theater.” Other performances will be at 7:30 p.m. April 12, 17, 18 and 19 and at 2 p.m. April 13 and 20. Tickets are $10 general admission, $8 for senior citizens and non-St. Scholastica students (with identification), and $5 for St. Scholastica students.
