Troubleshooting Webcams

If you are not seeing a picture when you go to the web cam, please try one of the following:

Install Active X.

The Active-X component that you are being prompted to install is signed by Axis and is a small program that enables you to receive the video stream in your browser in an efficient way. Many browsers are set to have strict security policies which can sometimes prevent the installation.

If you wish to install Active X in Internet Explorer, please follow the instructions for your version of the browser:

Internet Explorer

1. Select Tools then choose Internet Options. The Internet Options screen appears.
2. Select the Security tab.
3. Click the Custom Level button. The Security Settings screen appears.
4. Scroll down to the Download signed ActiveX controls entry and select the prompt radio button.
5. Scroll down to the Run ActiveX controls and plugins entry and select the enabled radio button.
6. Click OK. The Internet Options screen appears.
7. Click OK.

Enable Java

To enable Java on in Internet Explorer, please do the following steps:

1. Select Tools then choose Internet Options. The Internet Options screen appears.
2. Select the Security tab.
3. Click the Custom Level button. The Security Settings screen appears.
4. Scroll down to Java Permissions and choose either Low, Medium or High safety.
5. Click OK. The Internet Options screen appears.
6. Click OK.
