During the session, "Common Humanity, Differing Beliefs: The Interreligious Forum Study Group Presentations," facilitators will discuss recent experiences they have had in bringing people together to pursue shared study and understanding of religious and cultural ideas.
These facilitators have met with their respective groups on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis over the period of several months, or up to six years. They have met in various settings, such as houses of worship, homes or cafes, to analyze and discuss concepts and materials, growing in knowledge and transforming their relationships.
Some of these mentors and teachers will discuss the composition and materials of their groups; challenging and inspiring moments in the course of their groups' life spans; and their ideas for building understanding, respect and critical discussion in our community.
Listed below are members of the study group and the topics of their presentations:
-Kathleen Abel: Daughters of Abraham
-David Bard: Fictional writer of religion and culture
-Doug Bowen-Bailey: Evangelical, Orthodox, and Progressive Christians in Dialogue
-David Carlson: Religion and Science in Dialogue
-Martha Coltvet: God in America (PBS Series)
