The College of St. Scholastica's String and Chamber Ensembles will stage a fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, in the Mitchell Auditorium on campus. There is no admission charge and the public is encouraged to attend.
The brass ensemble is under the direction of assistant professor of music Marianne Connelly; the string ensemble is under the direction of Penny Schwarze, professor of music.
The brass quintet will perform "Pas Redoublé et Marche" by Luigi Cherubin and
"We Hasten with Eager Footsteps" from Cantata No. 78 by J. S. Bach.
The string ensemble will perform "Concerto Grosso Op. 6 No. 7" by Arcangelo Corelli, "Suite from Ariane and Bacchus" by Marin Marais and two movements from "Viola Concerto in G major" by Georg Philipp Telemann.
The string ensemble pieces were all composed during the Baroque style period and represent regional "flavors" of that style in Italy, France, and Germany.
For more information contact Connelly at (218) 723-6038 or Schwarze at (218) 723-6182.
