The College of St. Scholastica Instrumental Ensembles will stage a spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, in the Mitchell Auditorium on campus. There is no admission charge and the public is welcome.

The Woodwind Ensembles are under the direction of assistant professor of music, Marianne Connelly; the String Ensemble and the Baroque Trio are under the direction of Penny Schwarze, professor of music.

The flute duet, Emily Field and Sarah Ensign, will play Sonatine No. V. from Op. 96 by H. Köhler. The flute trio, Emily Field, Sarah Ensign and Sarah Weeks, will play Trio No. 1 by James Hook, edited by H. Voxman, and "Habanera" from "Carmen" by Georges Bizet, arranged by James Christensen.

The String Ensemble will perform music from the Baroque period: Handel's Concerto Grosso Op. 6, No. 1; Telemann's Viola Concerto in G major; Vivaldi's Concerto Grosso Op. 3, No. 11. Student soloists are Sarah Daignault, Rebecca Arras and Amy Lalla (violins); Frederick McDougall (viola); Mical Blanchard-Wright and Elizabeth Johnson (cellos).

The Baroque Trio will perform Corelli's Trio Sonata Op. 3, No 2; Frederick McDougall and Mical Blanchard-Wright on violins with Kaitlyn Tillman on harpsichord.
