Students at The College of St. Scholastica will learn the importance of good hand-washing techniques at a demonstration of Germ City Monday, Sept. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the College's Student Union in the lower level of Tower Hall. Germ City is presented in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Health.
Germ City visitors will have "Glitterbug" potion applied to their hands, enter a tent with black light to see their "pretend germs," wash their hands and return to see how well they washed. Participants will receive a bottle of hand sanitizer.
"Germ City presents an opportunity for students to learn about good hand-washing techniques to prevent H1N1 and other viruses," said LeeAnn Nelson, staff nurse for St. Scholastica's Student Health Service.
Vaccines for seasonal influenza (not H1N1) will be available from 2-4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, and Friday, Sept. 25, in the Mitchell Kitchenette on campus.
