"A Day at College" runs from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Somers Hall on campus. The cost of the program is $15, which includes all sessions and lunch. Each session includes a question and answer period. The program is open to all participants, regardless of educational background and training. Free parking is available at Somers Hall.
The three sessions offered this year are as follows:
Session 1 - "Direction for Life: The St. Scholastica Story"
Dr. Larry Goodwin, the 11th President of The College of St. Scholastica, will present information on St. Scholastica's rich history, future, and founding principles.
Session 2 - "The Steel Drum: Trinidad & Tobago's National Instrument"
St. Scholastica's visiting music instructor, Jeremy Craycraft, offers participants the unique opportunity to learn more about the discovery and evolution of the steel "pan" through lecture and music.
Session 3 - "The Dollar-a-Day Boys: Songs and Stories About the CCC Boys!"
William Jamerson, filmmaker, songwriter, and author, presents the chance to go back in time and remember the young men of the Civilian Conservation Corps through stories and songs.

"A Day at College" is the introductory portion of Emeritus College's fall term, which starts on Oct. 5. "A Day at College" will provide information regarding fall sessions this year, which will be held in Duluth, Two Harbors, Silver Bay, and Virginia. Classes run six weeks and meet for 90 minutes each week. All classes are taught by active faculty, retired professors, and area experts.
