St. Scholastica appoints three Faculty Emeritae

The College of St. Scholastica has announced the appointment of three Faculty Emeritae.

Faculty emeritus status is conferred upon select faculty members who retire in good standing and who have made at least two important contributions that constitute meritorious service to the College.

"This designation honors outstanding faculty members," said Dr. Beth Domholdt, vice president for Academic Affairs at St. Scholastica. "Some of them continue to serve the College in retirement, which is characteristic of their extraordinary loyalty."

This year's Faculty Emeritae are:

Sister Agnes Alich, professor of chemistry, for creating a culture of undergraduate scholarship and research within the Department of Chemistry and for her ongoing work with alumni. Sister Alich has taught at St. Scholastica a total of 42 years since 1961. She is a 1954 graduate of the College.

Sister Margaret Clarke, professor of physical science, for her preparation of many pre-service science teachers over the years and for the outstanding role model she is as a distinguished woman of science. Sister Clarke has taught at St. Scholastica for 40 years. She is a 1962 graduate of the College.

Dorothea Diver, associate professor of German in the Department of Languages and International Studies, for establishing an exchange program with the University of Leipzig and for developing the College's connection with the Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs. Diver taught at St. Scholastica for 17 years.

The College of St. Scholastica is ranked as a top regional university in U.S. News & World Report magazine's 2009 "America's Best Colleges" rankings.
