DULUTH, MN - "Cariboo Magi," an award-winning comedy by Canadian playwright Lucia Frangione, is the next production of St. Scholastica Theatre's 2012-2013 season. The show opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, in the St. Scholastica Theatre, directly behind Tower Hall on campus. Directing is Benjamin Borchert, who is a St. Scholastica graduate.
"Cariboo Magi" is a refreshing comic take on the Christmas story. The action begins in San Diego during the Gold Rush of 1870 and centers on a misguided journey to the Great White North. Featured are a drunken minister who has lost his faith, a greedy saloon owner looking for a payday, a pregnant ingénue, and a Canadian gold miner who at one point claims to be the last of the Mohicans. The four form a bedraggled troupe of desperate players who head north to perform in British Columbia.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for senior citizens and students and $5 for St. Scholastica students. Tickets can be purchased online through the Spotlight Box Office at spotlight.css.edu or call (218) 723-700.
